Social Audit Program of Youth, Civic Media and Urban Governance in Dharan

The Social Audit Program for the YCIV project took place on May 4, 2026, in Dharan, with the Acting Mayor of the Dharan Sub-metropolitan City, Mr. Aiendra Kumar Begha, serving as the chief guest. The event was well-attended, featuring representatives from the Tole Lane Organization, municipal officers, community members, and youth from various localities. This gathering underscored the collaborative spirit of the project, which aims to engage diverse stakeholders in discussions about community development and governance.

Speaking on the occasion, Acting Mayor Mr. Aiendra Kumar Begha praised the youth's efforts in utilizing digital platforms to highlight community issues and reaffirmed his support for their ongoing engagement in similar initiatives, emphasizing the importance of sustained collaboration for community development.

Municipal officer Ms. Bhuwan Kumari Rai commended Lumanti for its efforts in enhancing youth capacity and encouraged the youth network to sustain their initiatives. She expressed her commitment to collaborating with the youth for the benefit of the community.

Youth volunteers Mr. Nitesh Limbu and Ms. Enny Shakya took the stage to share their personal insights and experiences gained through their involvement in the project.

The program was initiatied with the welcome remarks from the President of Yuwa Sanjal Mr. Shantiram Rai. On his remarks, Mr. Rai emphasized the vital role of youth volunteers in the project. He shared his experiences working closely with communities on local planning and digital advocacy initiatives, highlighting the importance of youth engagement in addressing governance issues.

Following his remarks, Project Officer Mr. Jeet Bahadur Shrestha provided a comprehensive overview of the project's achievements, including detailed financial reports that illustrated the effective use of resources and the impact of the initiatives undertaken.

During the event, the video produced by Youth Netowrk on the issue of waste management in Dharan and unmanaged dumping site was showcased.
