Lumanti Supports Flood-Affected Communities in Rasuwa

Lumanti Support Group for Shelter, in collaboration with its partners and local authorities, has been providing rapid humanitarian assistance to communities affected by the devastating floods and landslides in Rasuwa following the recent disaster.

From 17–19 September 2026, a Lumanti team, together with the American Himalayan Foundation (AHF), visited Uttargaya Rural Municipality, Rasuwa, to assess the situation of affected communities and support ongoing relief efforts.

During a meeting with the Rural Municipality leadership, Lumanti’s relief support was appreciated, particularly the provision of non-food item (NFI) packages for 600 people. The packages included WASH kits, clothing, hygiene kits for women and men, baby-care items, tarpaulins and water tanks. Local authorities also highlighted the urgent need for shelter and housing support for families whose homes have been damaged or destroyed.

With the support of the Rural Municipality, Lumanti and AHF distributed relief kits directly to approximately 100 people, including children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, at two holding centres. Discussions with local leaders and affected families highlighted a common and urgent concern: safe and adequate shelter is one of the most immediate needs of families who have lost their homes.

Apart from this, earlier in coordination with local government and the Community Women Forum (CWF), Lumanti also provided clothing support to 288 women at Shree Chandra Jyoti School, a holding centre in Ward No. 5 of Bidur Municipality, Nuwakot District, as part of its wider humanitarian response to communities affected by the disaster.

Additionally, with support from Mercy Relief, Lumanti has extended humanitarian assistance to approximately 400 people in Uttargaya Rural Municipality, providing essential food, emergency water, hygiene supplies, emergency shelter and health-related support.
