The ward level meetings in targeted 4 wards of Laharepauwa and Dhaibung were organized immediately after the selection of wards, where 18 model of rural housing prepared by Government was displayed. Minimum one from each family of targeted wards participated in the meeting where directives of government and approach of CordAid/Lumanti was shared.

 

With consultation of local Community - Ward Citizen Forum,VDC Secretary and Representatives from schools of Laharepauwa and Dhaibung VDC 4 schools are selected for the construction of permanent toilets. The detail survey of damaged toilets of selected schools is taking in place by the technical teams. After the completion of survey design and estimation with budget detail will be submitted to District Education Office-Dhunche for approval.

 

Continuous meetings with saving groups of Dhaibung VDC and Kalikasthan women saving and credit co-operative were done in order to transfer informal groups to co-operative.

 

Exposure visit for one member from each saving groups of dhaibung vdc were taken to Kathmandu, where they visited different co-operative linked with Lumanti and CWF (Community Women Forum), activities carried out by the co-operatives before and after earthquake. The main objective of this visit was to motivate groups to be involved in different community development works and income generating activities.

 

Two different trainings CSAR (Community Search and Rescue) and First Aid training was provided to the DMCs from both VDCs from 13th of February to 1st of March 2016. 144 members form 18 ward were given training in 6 different groups with 24 participants in each.

 

Temporary toilets constructed in mid-August 2015 using bamboo and CGI sheets started to dilapidate and some of the septic tank seemed chock-full after the regular use for 7 months by more than 150 families. These families don’t have any plan to leave the rented space. So replacement of bamboos with MS pipes, worn CGI sheets with new one and new septic tank construction is ongoing which takes about one and half week to complete. Likewise, Improvement of washing places with concrete platform with raised water tanks is completed in IDPs.

 

One day cleaning campaign in IDP camp was organized with initiation of child club formed in camp, where one member from each house and staffs/volunteers of Lumanti/CordAid participate in the program. Solid waste, kitchen waste and other garbage, toilets were cleaned up. Dust bins, Harpic, brush were provided to child club in-order to continue this type of program in camps regularly.    

 

With the objective to motivate children and provide trainings to child club, a child learning center is constructed in Camp A and B and is under construction in camp D. Lumanti is Planning to run continuous hygiene promotion programs.

 

Cash for work program was done with maintenance of pathways, construction of platforms, and construction of children learning space and is ongoing with maintenance of toilets in IDP camps.
