Inception Workshop Concluded


A day long Inception Workshop to initiate the new phase project titled "Integrated Community Improvement Program for Socio-economic Transformation of the Families in Need" concluded on 7th November 2017, Tiesday in Ratnanagar. The program was aimed to disseminate the information in regards to the project and its activities. It was also aimed to present the status of achievements and activities that Lumanti has carried out during the past six years in Ratnanagar.
 
Newly elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Ratnanagar Municipality along with the elected ward representatives and community members attended the workshop and provided constructive feedback for the new phase project.
 
Chief guest of the workshop the newly elected Mayor of Ratnanagar Municipality Narayan Ban, addressing the gathering said, the approach that Lumanti has been adopting for the implementation of its project activities is unique and is highly appreciated. In fact the project has developed confident within the community people leading their remarkable participation for the improvement of their community. Mayar added, Lumanti has been supporting slum dwellers in Ratnanagar by carrying out the initiatives and activities that the Municipality supposed to perform. In terms of community resettlement work that Lumanti has initiated in Salghari, Mayor Ban said, the informal settlements within the city need to be resettled and Lumanti has initiated the process which is definitely highly appreciable. But the fact is, the community people should be responsible and take initiatives to identify the genuine families within the settlements otherwise resettlement of the community would be the big challenge. Taking about the municipal role for the improvement of the community, he said, the citizen should be responsible towards their city and should pay the tax as per the regulation so that the municipality as well can provide support for development initiatives. At the end of his remarks, the Mayor appreciated the initiative of Lumanti for the establishement of Urban Poor Support Fund and expressed his commitment to add the municipal contribution. 
 
Deputy Mayor of the Municipality Bimala Duwadi appreciating the efforts made by Lumanti expressed gratitude towards Lumanti. She also appreciated Lumanti's project strategy of working with the ward representatives and Municpality itself for the community action plan.
 
The workshop was initiated with the welcome remarks and highlight on the objective of the inception workshop by Senior Manager of Lumanti Mahendra Shakya. On his remarks, he also highlighted the people led development approach that Lumanti has been adopting for the implementation of the project activities. 
 
Followed by the remarks from the Mahendra Shakya, Field Coordinator of Ratnanagar Singha Bahadur Lama presented his paper focusing on the key project achievements of the past six years and also highlighted the project modality of the new phase project and its planned activities in brief. 
 
In the open floor, the participants provided their constructive feedback and comments for the betterment of the project activities and also appreciated Lumanti's activities for the transformation of the communities.
