An Inception Workshop concluded in Kalaiya
An inception workshop to disseminate the information related to new phase project titled "Integrated Community Improvement Program for Socio-economic Transformation of the Families in Need" concluded in Kalaiya on 9th November 2017.
Chief Guest of the workshop newly elected Mayor of Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City Rajesh Rao Yadav inaugurated the inception workshop.
Delivering the inaugural remarks Mayor of Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City appreciated the efforts made by Lumanti for the transformation of the poor communities in Kalaiya. He expressed his gratitude to Lumanti for its generous partnership and support that it has been providing to the Municipality. On his remarks he also urged the newly elected ward representatives and members for their support and contribution towards Lumanti's initiation for the new phase project.
Local Development Officer of Bara District Bharat Bahadur Dhungana addressing the workshop said, presence of elected representatives in the local municipal bodies in indeed the matter of great pleasure for all. Development initiatives can now be placed in the right tract with the effective role play from all the elected representatives which is the must for the transformation. Talking about non-governmental organization's role for the development, he added, transformation of the poor community is not possible only with the single effort from the government, the role of non-governmental organizations are vital. The non-governmental organizations, using their expertise, need to enhance the capacity of the government agencies. Speaking about the role of elected representatives, he said, the elected representatives should play the active role for the effective mobilization of the non-governmental organization. The coordinated role for the effective and efficient involvement of all stakeholders working in the city should be the prime agenda of the local representatives, he enforced.
Executive Officer of Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City Gyanendra Parajuli also stressed the need of monitoring role of the newly elected representatives towards the initiatives made by the non-governmental organizations in the city and talked about the collaborative effort of the municipality and the non-governmental organizations for the development of the city.
Initiating the workshop Senior Manager of Lumanti Mahendra Shakya talked about the objective of the workshop and highlighted the approach and modality of Lumanti's project in Kalaiya. On his remarks, he also highlighted the people led development approach that Lumanti has been adopting for the implementation of the project activities.
Field coordinator of Kalaiya, Abdul Kaish presented his paper focusing on the key project achievements of the past six years and also highlighted the project modality of the new phase project and its planned activities in brief.
Followed by the presentation from the field coordinator, the participants of the workshop provided feedback and comments for the betterment of the project activities and also appreciated Lumanti's activities for the transformation of the communities.
More than 40 participants representing municipal chief, officers, newly elected ward representatives along with officers from different government agencies in the district and representatives from other local stakeholders attended the workshop.
